Director of Admissions & Business Development

Serenity Lane is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate York to our executive team. In her new role, Kate will oversee the admissions and business development teams, ensuring exceptional service to both our community partners and prospective clients.

Kate joins us from Cedar Hills Hospital in Portland, where she served as the Senior Director of Business Development. With over 15 years of leadership experience in healthcare settings, including a strong background in behavioral health, Kate brings valuable expertise to our organization.

Kate is deeply committed to the belief that strategic partnerships are essential to delivering high-quality patient care. She is excited to be a part of an organization renowned for its longstanding reputation, and looks forward to building new partnerships while strengthening existing ones to ensure that everyone who reaches out to us receives the care and support they need.

With over two decades of experience in behavioral health, addiction services, and crisis management, Dr. Staten brings a deep commitment to clinical excellence, community engagement, and strategic leadership.

Holding a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Counselor Education, along with a Licensed Professional Counselor, CADC III, and Registered Gambling Counselor certifications, Dr. Staten has served in key roles across Oregon Health Authority, CareOregon, Multnomah County, and more recently, Oregon Change Clinic. His background reflects a remarkable blend of operational vision and hands-on therapeutic expertise, making him an ideal addition to our mission-driven organization.

Dr. Staten works closely with the two Regional Directors of Outpatient Services; Patrice Crisp and Glenn Deveney and calls our Portland Outpatient Office his home base. We're grateful for the insight, compassion, and forward-thinking energy Dr. Staten adds to our leadership team.

Steve Harris, CADC II, is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with more than 30 years of experience in the recovery community. For over 16 years, he has worked with Serenity Lane patients, families, and referral partners, providing guidance, support, and compassionate care throughout the recovery process.

Steve is a strong believer in Serenity Lane’s programs and the difference they can make in the lives of individuals and families. His approach is grounded in a simple but meaningful philosophy:

“When someone calls Serenity Lane, we will help them—whether they become our patient or not.”

For Steve, recovery begins with connection, compassion, respect, and making sure that anyone who reaches out for help knows they are not alone.

Maureen Pineda is an Outreach Manager with Serenity Lane, bringing more than 10 years of healthcare experience across primary care, behavioral health, and community-based settings. Her background includes roles as a Certified Medical Assistant and Behavioral Health Coordinator in both adult and pediatric primary care, as well as serving as a Community Liaison for an inpatient acute psychiatric stabilization program.

Over the past five years, Maureen has focused on business development, outreach, and relationship-building throughout Oregon’s healthcare and behavioral health communities. Her experience working alongside providers, behavioral health professionals, patients, and families has given her a deep appreciation for the connection between physical and mental health and the role both play in long-term recovery and overall wellness.

Maureen brings a holistic perspective to her work and understands the unique needs of healthcare providers, employers, community partners, individuals, and families. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships, connecting people with the right resources, and making the process of accessing care feel less overwhelming. Whether she is partnering with a provider or employer, supporting a family member, or helping someone navigate treatment, Maureen strives to connect the dots and create a seamless experience from the first conversation through treatment and a successful transition back into the community.

A Central Oregon native, Maureen feels fortunate to serve the community where she grew up. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Maple Beans, painting, and traveling. She loves learning about different cultures and often incorporates local cooking classes into her international travels to connect with people and experience new places. She is also working to strengthen her Spanish language skills and continues to be inspired by her curiosity and appreciation for diverse perspectives.
