We’re glad you’re here. Getting ready for treatment can feel like a lot, but we will guide you every step of the way. This page will help you know what to expect before you arrive.

A Loved One's Guide to Residential Treatment

Admission Day

Transportation:

Arrange a ride to treatment
Patients may not drive themselves to treatment

Bring the following:

Photo ID
Insurance card(s)
Prescription Benefits card (if separate)
All current prescription medications
Debit or credit card for medication refills or copays

Illness:

If you become ill or are exposed to a contagious illness, contact Admissions before arrival

Detox Information:

Initial assessment and evaluation occur in Detox for most patients. Patients remain in Detox until medically cleared, with a minimum stay of one day. Devices are stored during Detox and returned after transfer to residential treatment.

Medications

Medications:

Prescription medications should be packed separately for intake review
Medical staff will provide and manage medications during treatment
If taking Suboxone, Subutex, or Buprenorphine at home, do not bring prescriptions with you. Serenity Lane physicians will order medications when clinically appropriate
Bring both medical and pharmacy insurance cards if your insurance requires separate cards

Do not bring:

Any over-the-counter medications

One suitcase and one carry-on bag
Toiletries and personal care items
Appropriate, casual, comfortable clothing. (See dresscode)

Hair dryer
Curling iron
Electric razor
Books
Exercise/meditation mat

Workout clothing

Money

Credit or debit card for co-pays or prescriptions
Small amount of cash for vending machines ($1 or $5 bills)

Healthcare Power of Attorney

Supplements

One unopened multivitamin allowed
No more than two unopened herbal or nutritional supplements
All supplements must be sealed and unopened

Serenity Lane Residential Care Dresscode

Acceptable Clothing:

Casual, comfortable clothing
Jeans without holes or tears
Casual slacks
Athletic clothing
Bermuda or walking-length shorts
Appropriate sleepwear
Bathrobe
Slippers
Seasonal outerwear
Rain gear as appropriate
Comfortable exercise shoes

Clothing Restrictions:

No alcohol-related imagery
No drug-related imagery
No sexually explicit content
No violent messaging
No inappropriate slogans or profanity
Shoes are required at all times
Staff determination of appropriateness is final

Tobacco and Nicotine Products

Allowed:

Cigarettes
Zyn-style nicotine pouches
Nicotine gum
Nicotine lozenges
Manufacturer-produced disposable nicotine vapes

Requirements:

Must be unopened
Must be in original packaging
No vape juice
No THC or CBD products
No herbal blends
No modified vape devices

Clarification:

Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated outdoor areas
Vaping indoors is prohibited
Family may provide unopened replacement nicotine products
Patients should bring enough tobacco products for their stay whenever possible

Cell Phones, Laptops, Tablets and Smartwatches

Devices are stored during Detox
Devices are returned in Residential Treatment
Use is permitted only during approved free time
Device use generally occurs in patient rooms
Bring your own cellular data or hotspot if needed
Serenity Lane does not provide technical support for personal devices
Computer kiosks and telephones are available on campus
MP3 players and ipods are allowed

Family Programming and Visitation

Family Programming

Up to three family members (age 16+)
First visit: Arrive at 9:00 a.m. Orientation is required
Return visits: Arrive at 9:45 a.m.
Lunch is available for purchase ($10)

Visitation Hours

Saturday and Sunday, 3:00–5:00 p.m. (Arrive by 2:50 p.m.)
Up to two adult visitors allowed, children welcome
Holiday visitation opportunities may be available and announced separately
